Mackenzie King Island is an island, part of the Queen Elizabeth Islands in northern Canada. The island spread south of Borden Island and north of Melville Island. Most areas of the island are in Northwest Territories. In Nunavut lies its easternmost area. The total area of Mackenzie King is about 5,048 square kilometers. This size makes it the 26th largest island in Canada and 115th largest island in the world.
Trinidad
Trinidad is a large and populous island. It is one of the two main islands and landforms which compose the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. The southernmost island in the Caribbean is Trinidad. It lies about 11 kilometers off the northeastern shore of Venezuela. The island has an area around 4,768 square kilometers. Trinidad is on the sixth place magnitude in the West Indies.
The culture of Trinidad today is the result of a combination of many various cultures. The island supports an annual pre-Lenten Carnival almost all week before Ash Wednesday. Trinidad is the birthplace of the Tassa drums, Steelpan musical instrument and also Limbo dance. Varied styles of popular music include Chutney, Calypso, Soca, Soca-Parang and Parang.
Main islets include the hills of the Centralр Northern and Southern Ranges, Nariva, the Caroni, Naparima Plains and Oropouche Swamps. Main river systems include Ortoire Rivers, South and North Oropouche and the Caroni.
Native animal species include the Collared Peccary, Red Brocket Deer, the Ocelot and Red Howler Monkey. The island is a rich of bird species, the Trinidad Piping Guan.
Trinidad is an industrial island. It has a diversified economy, founded to a termless extent on natural gas and oil, agriculture and industry. The island is one of the several major gas exported centres in the world, being the exporter of methanol and ammonia. Trinidad is among the top five exporters of natural gas.
Réunion
Réunion is a French island. It support the population of around 800,000 people located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar. They are located about 200 km south-west of the nearest island Mauritius.
One of the overseas départements of France is Réunion. The island is one of the 27 regions of France, being an overseas region. It is an integral share of the Republic with the same class as those situated on the European major land.
The outermost region of the European Union is Réunion. It is an overseas department of France and part of the Eurozone.
The recorded history of Réunion, before the coming of the Portuguese in the sixteenth century, was a slim. The Portuguese explorer Don Pedro Mascarenhas was first European who discovered this area. He gave his name to the island, spreads near to Réunion, the Mascarenes Island.
Réunion was occupied by France and also administered from Port Louis. Santa Apolonia was officially insisted by Jacques Pronis in 1642. He deported a several French mutineers from Madagascar to the island. A few years later the convicts were returned to France. The island was named Île Bourbon in 1649. In 1665 Colonization was started. Then the French East India Company sent the first several settlers.
The island was renamed “Île Bonaparte,” in 1801, after Napoleon Bonaparte. Réunion was invaded by a Royal Navy squadron in 1810. During the French Revolution of 1848, Réunion was binging again the name.
